Choosing a support option for yourself or a loved one can be complex, difficult, and stressful — especially during these times. Are home care services even available during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Yes, our services are available. In fact, the need for services in the safety of the home environment may be more important now than it ever has been. Despite these difficult times, we are cheerfully meeting the needs of the many individuals and families that we serve, and we are ready to assist others. All the while, the safety of our clients and caregivers is and will remain our highest priority.

Is Bluebird Homecare taking special precautions to deal with COVID-19?

We take the safety of our clients and staff very seriously. We are monitoring and following the guidelines provided by the CDC, WHO, and other health experts. In addition to following other best practices, we have implemented a variety of measures to help protect the health and safety of our clients and caregivers.

What is Bluebird doing to ensure client safety?

In addition to monitoring and following the guidelines provided by the CDC and WHO, as well as state and local health officials, Bluebird is taking a variety of steps to ensure client safety — the foremost being extra handwashing, staying home when sick, and following precautions when working with clients who are sick. Some of the other steps we are taking are listed below:

  • Transparent and frequent communication with clients and their families about the best care options;
  • Mobile screening questionnaires for each and every caregiver before each and every client encounter to help ensure it is safe for them to enter a client’s home;
  • Extra training and communication for all staff on proper hygiene and protocols to address the risks and challenges of COVID-19;
  • Following best practices as it relates to face masks and other personal protective equipment;
  • Meeting or exceeding health expert recommendations when dealing with a known or possible exposure to someone with the COVID-19 virus; and
  • Seeking to educate our caregivers on the avoidance and mitigation of risk on and off the job.

What precautions are caregivers taking when they provide care?

All caregivers must pass a screening questionnaire before entering a client’s home to make sure they are symptom-free and to help minimize exposure to the virus. Our professional caregivers have always placed a premium on cleanliness and hygiene, but we have intensified our focus on frequent hand washing and wiping down common areas and surfaces in the client’s home during each visit. We are also following CDC guidelines as it relates to the usage of personal protective equipment for our care team.

Can I have the same caregiver come to my house each time to provide my care?

We make every effort to make sure you have a consistent care team in place to meet your needs. Whenever possible, you will have the same caregiver (or caregivers if you have more than 40 hours a week of service) to assist with your needs. Our office staff will work closely with you to make sure you have a care team that is consistent and is a good match for your household.

Does someone have to come to my home if I want to learn more about Bluebird’s services?

No. We are happy to talk with you over the phone or schedule a video call. If you prefer to talk in person, we can arrange that in a manner that is safe for both you and our staff. Once you ask us to start services for you or your loved one, we will need to make a visit to do our assessment and develop a customized care plan based on the unique needs in the household.

What if I have more questions?

You should always feel free to reach out with more questions. We understand these are difficult and challenging times. We will gladly discuss your needs and answer your questions until you feel like you have enough information to make a wise and informed decision.
